Nitrogen Fixation

Nitrogen fixation is the process by which nitrogen in the atmosphere is converted into a more active form that can be used by plants. Symbiotic biological nitrogen fixation occurs in leguminous and nonleguminous plants, and nitrogen is also fixed biologically by free-living and associative nitrogen fixers.
