Neisseria meningitides, N. gonorrhoeae, Haemophilus influenzae, Brucella spp, Bordetella spp and Legionella spp are bacterial pathogens which can cause serious disease in humans. These bacteria can become resistant to antimicrobials by a variety of mechanisms and this is likely to impact on future management of infections caused by these organisms.
