Abstract

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute was founded in 1953 and has its headquarters located at Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA. One of the world's largest philanthropies, its primary purpose is promotion of knowledge within the field of basic sciences (principally in the field of biomedical research and science education).
