Molecular genetics is the study and manipulation of genetic material at a molecular level. It is intermediate in scale between biochemistry and cell biology, and (in contrast to genomics) often focuses on specific deoxyribonucleic acid sequences, proteins and interactions rather than on global surveys of complete genomes.
