Insulin‐dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM): Identifying the Disease‐causing Gene at the IDDM11 Locus

In complex diseases, genome linkage analysis, fine mapping and association studies are used to identify disease-causing genes. With the completion of the human genome sequence and its annotation, positional candidate gene studies have become an attractive method to identify genes involved in complex disorders by screening for selected chromosomal interval regions.
