Genetic Counseling: Impact on the Family System

Abstract

From a family systems perspective, the psychological nature of genetic counseling brings to the surface past, present and future family issues for consideration. The manner in which families deal with this information is influenced by interactional patterns that may inhibit or allow emotional processing.
